The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) today announced that the sale of passenger vehicles grew by 8.63 per cent in May 2017 over the same period last year. Within the Passenger Vehicles, Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicle and Vans grew by 4.80 percent, 18.80 percent and 9.50 percent respectively in May 2017 over the same period last year.
Suzuki Motorcycle India had a change of fortunes ever since the Access 125 and Gixxer series arrived in the market and the two-wheeler maker continues to keep the momentum going. For the month of May 2017, Suzuki registered a 51.69 per cent increase in sales over the same period last year.

Daimler AG's Indian commercial vehicle subsidiary, Bharat Benz achieved an important milestone with the sale of its 50,000th truck in the country. The vehicle to be sold is a 4928 TT tractor from the manufacturer's heavy-duty range and was presented at a regional brand event in Hyderabad to the owner.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) Pvt Ltd sold over 5 lakh two-wheelers in May 2017. Honda's motorcycle sales posted robust 20 per cent growth. HMSI consolidated its position as the No. 2 brand in domestic motorcycle segment, with 1,47,431 units sold in May 2017, compared to 1,76,216 motorcycles sold in May 2016.
