The Centre may dole out incentives to promote electric vehicles in the country by considering lower GST and extending tax benefit for buyers in this week's Budget for 2018-19, say sources. The announcement is expected in view of the government's aim to have 100 per cent electric vehicles for public mobility and 40 per cent for personal mobility by 2030.
The Indian Auto Expo is an important event for both mass market and luxury players. BMW is India's second largest luxury automaker and will be launching a whole slew of new cars this year. The first two launches will come at the Indian Auto Expo itself. BMW India will be launching the all-new (and all wheel drive) M5 sports saloon. BMW will also launch the new 6 Series Gran Tourismo in India at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. Another very important launch for 2018, the all-new BMW X3 will also be showcased at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. And as always, the other star attraction at the BMW will of course be the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar who is BMW India's brand ambassador.
The 2018 Indian Auto Expo is just around the corner and as with most auto makers in India, Toyota have announced its plans too. Toyota will showcase the brand new Vios sedan in India for the first time at the 2018 Auto Expo as its main attraction. The Japanese automaker is also scheduled to showcase facelift versions of some of its products in India along with the complete lineup of current cars that it already sells. The Toyota pavilion (Hall 10) is said to have a 'Today, Tomorrow and Future' theme to it where the 'Future' section will comprise of a range of concept cars from the Japanese automaker.
The ministry will soon bring in regulations for electric vehicles to address issues such as whether charging is a service for promoting e-mobility in the country.
Mahindra Racing has announced entering a strategic partnership with Pininfarina and Tech Mahindra. The partnership will offer the Formula E team to enhance the performance of its M5Electro race car for the upcoming season and also use race track experience in the development of new electric road vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz is going full throttle on their new electric vehicle architecture, called EVA, for its four upcoming electric car models from the new EQ range.
Mercedes-Benz India will be bringing the EQ concept to the 2018 Auto Expo - The Motor Show. The carmaker is committed to introduce as many as 10 electric cars in its line-up by 2022 which will include SUVs, sedans and hatchbacks, and the EQ concept will be a preview to some of these future cars.
