Volkswagen Ameo commenced series production at the Chakan plant in May this year
The Ameo is expected to be volume seller for Volkswagen with a daily production capacity of 150 units every day out of the Chakan facility's total production capacity of 500. The company says to have invested Rs. 720 crore in the development of the sub-compact sedan, while the aggressive pricing has been possible thanks to the 82 per cent localisation achieved. Despite the competitive pricing, the Ameo is well loaded on features including cruise control, rain sensing wipers, anti-pinch power windows for front and rear; static cornering light, rear view camera with parking sensors, touchscreen infotainment system with Mirror Link, auto climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs and a lot more. Available in 3 trims - Trendline, Comfortline and Highline, all variants on the Ameo get ABS and dual front airbags as standard.
The Volkswagen Ameo will get diesel and automatic variants later this year
With the positive response recorded by Volkswagen, the company is looking to drive the same momentum in the upcoming festive season, when the company will introduce the diesel version of the Ameo powered by the updated 1.5-litre TDI motor, while a DSG equipped automatic variant is also on the cards.
