Jeep India is all set to launch its all-new three-row SUV, the Jeep Meridian, in June 2022. Ahead of its launch, a near-production unit of the SUV has been spotted testing in India, near Pune, Maharashtra. The carmaker has already revealed the SUV digitally, so although the test mule is covered in heavy camouflage, we know what it essentially looks like. We are yet to see the new Jeep Meridian in the flesh, and it will happen next month when we drive the SUV. So, keep watching this space for our review.

The Jeep Meridian is based on the same platform as the Compass, but it is much bigger in dimensions
The new Jeep Meridian is based on the same platform as the Compass and thus shares some of its visual traits as well, like the 7-slot grille and the squarish wheel arches. However, the SUV is much bigger in dimensions, with a new rear section, and sleeker LED headlights and taillights. In fact, Jeep will also offer dual-tone colour options with the SUV, and it will get a new set of alloy wheels as seen in the spy photos.

The Meridian gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
While we do not get to see the cabin of the Meridian in these images, based on the images released by the carmaker, the SUV will feature a dual-tone black and brown colour scheme with a soft-touch dashboard. The Meridian also gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features include - wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, power-lift tailgate with a programable opening height and a 9-speaker Alpine sound system. All three rows of seats will be available with a recline function with the third row offering up to 11 degrees of recline.
The Meridian will get the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that powers the Compass
Under the hood, the Meridian will get the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that powers the Compass. In fact, the power output will also remain the same at 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The motor will come mated to a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic - the latter will get the option of all-wheel-drive (AWD). As with the Compass, the AWD system will come with terrain modes - Sand/Mud, Snow and Auto - selectable by a toggle switch alongside the gear lever. There is no petrol unit yet on offer with the SUV.
