The India spec Renault Captur SUV is all set to make its debut in the market. The newest premium SUV from the French automaker will be positioned over the Duster and a new set of teaser videos released by Renault give a glimpse on the model's design credentials. The Renault Captur will be officially unveiled on September 21 and we will be driving soon as well. All set to take on the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and the likes, here's what the teaser videos showcase about the upcoming Captur.

The videos showcase the V-shaped chrome induced grille on the Renault Captur. The design language is in-line with the company's global product range and wears the rather large diamond badge. You also get a glimpse of the new Pure vision headlamps that are said to be full LED units and get the very Audi-esque dynamic turn indicators. There are signature LED daytime running lights as well, while the compact-looking LED taillights give an interesting touch to the model. Lastly, the teaser video reveals split-spoke petal shaped alloy wheels finished in brushed aluminium. Although no confirmed, it needs to be seen if the India-spec Captur will get the massive C-shaped LED enclosures seen on the European version.

(Renault India chooses to call its version Captur and not 'Kaptur' like Russia)
The Indian Renault Captur shares its overall design with the model sold in Brazil and Russia. Interestingly though, while those models are spelled as the 'Kaptur', Renault India opted for the European spelling instead - 'Captur'. The other Indian element is the inclusion of chrome on the grille, which otherwise gets a gloss black finish on the overseas model.
The Renault Captur is based on the same platform as the Duster compact SUV, but will be loaded on goodies. While the styling is clearly more premium, the interior too will see a host of better materials and more features. The SUV is expected to make its debut in three colour options with a dual-tone paint scheme, while Renault is expected to offer a host of accessories and customisation options as well.
(The Renault Captur will draw power from the 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 108 bhp)
Under the hood, the Renault Captur will get a 1.5-litre diesel engine shared with the Duster. However, the diesel motor will be available only in the 108 bhp version, paired to the 6-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. The SUV will come with AWD as well on the top trims. That said, Renault is likely to offer the 1.6-litre petrol engine from the Duster as well on the Captur.
The Renault Captur is positioned as a premium offering, but prices are expected to be competitive starting around Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and top out and about Rs. 15 lakh for the range-topping diesel.
