The next-gen Mahindra Scorpio is one of the highly anticipated models from the home-grown utility vehicle manufacturer. Expected to be launched sometime towards the end of 2021 or early 2022, new spy photos of a prototype model, which have surfaced online, reveal that the SUV is likely to come with a 360-degree camera. The spy photo shows a front camera underneath the logo housing on the grille indicating that the SUV will get the advanced safety feature that is currently getting common in SUVs under Rs. 20 lakh.

The new-gen Mahindra Scorpio will be built on the company latest-gen ladder-on-frame chassis, the same as the current Thar, and is expected to come with a host of premium features and upmarket styling. The SUV will certainly be bigger than the existing Scorpio and it is likely to get smarter features like LED projector headlamps LED DRLs, LED foglamps, a new chrome grille, side-step, and sporty alloy wheels. The new Scorpio will also get Mahindra's new Twin Peaks logo, which was revealed recently.

While we don't get to see the cabin of the SUV in these photos, previous spy photos have also given us a glimpse of the new Scorpio's interior, which will also be a bit upmarket. Updates include a boxy dashboard featuring a new touchscreen infotainment system, several dials and buttons for in-car controls, along with an electric sunroof and a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, with mounted controls. We also expect to see new comfortable seats with premium upholstery and forward-facing seats for the third row.

Under the hood, the new-gen Scorpio is expected to borrow the turbocharged petrol and diesel engines from the Thar. The former is the 2.0-litre mStallion engine that is tuned to produce 150 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque, whereas the oil burner is a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel that develops 130 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Both engines will come with a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed torque convertor automatic unit.
