Some new spy images of the next-gen Mercedes-Benz A-Class have surfaced online and this time around, we have come across some new images of the cabin as well. The most interesting bit is the addition of an all-digital instrument cluster instead of the traditional instrument cluster with analogue dials and physical needles. Now, this could be a feature unique to the top-of-the-line model but we have to say this is, in fact, quite a cool addition. We also shared the latest images of the exterior of the new A-Class early this month and judging by that, the new A-Class should be launched sometime next year.
Now, last time we saw the images of the new A-Class, the cabin was still a bit camouflaged but the dashboard was quite visible and we can also see the new floating display and three air-con vents with glossy black bezels at the centre. You also get a much more sophisticated button setup but the centre console is still covered and the steering wheel still looks makeshift. While the dual display setup does look a lot comprehensive, they are not as sleek as you see in the new E-Class. There is an illuminated engine start and stop button right beside the air con vents (the India-spec model will get it on the other side).
New-Gen Mercedes A-Class all-digital instrument cluster
From the outside, we have already told you that the new-gen Mercedes-Benz A-Class will come with some considerable cosmetic updates with new LED headlamps, a revised grille, new alloys and more. The new A-Class is based on the MFA 2 platform, the 2018 A-Class will use aluminium for lighter kerb weight and higher rigidity and also it is expected to come with a longer wheelbase, which means more cabin space.
2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class gets a new dashboard as well
Under the hood, the new-gen Mercedes-Benz A-Class will come with a 1.6-litre or a 2-litre petrol engine, and a 2-litre or a 1.5-litre diesel motor. All the engines will get a 9-Speed DCT gearbox, with reports of a 6-Speed manual transmission as well. Of course, the latter will be for the international markets. The new A-Class is likely to make its global debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show and we expect the car to be launched in India but the end of next year or early 2019.
