Maruti Suzuki Ignis Brochure Leaked Online

Images of the upcoming Suzuki Ignis' brochure have surfaced on the internet giving us a hint as to what to expect from the subcompact SUV. The car will likely be sold solely under the Suzuki brand internationally and will be unveiled in India bearing the Maruti Suzuki tag at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo.

The Maruti Ignis, which was first showcased in concept form as the Suzuki iM4 concept, made its debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show where a heavily accessorized special edition called the Suzuki Ignis Trail Concept, was also showcased.

The new brochure scans show that the Japanese-spec Ignis will be available with a single engine option that is equipped with the company's SHVS mild hybrid system, ABS, and EBD as standard. The 1,242cc Durajet petrol engine, which is good for 89.75bhp with an additional 3bhp contributed by its electric motor, is mated to a CVT gearbox as standard across all variants. The car is also shown to come with 2WD as standard although Suzuki's AllGrip 4WD system is available as an option. Mileage figures are stated as 28Km/l for the 2WD and 15.4Km/l for the AWD version.

The car measures 3,700mm in length, 1,660mm in width, and stands tall at 1,595mm in height. The wheelbase spans 2,435mm whereas it stands 180mm off the ground which is indicative of its SUV-like genetics. The car is also quite modular as by folding the rear seats, the boot space can be increased from 258-litres to 415-litres. The rear seats themselves can be re-adjusted by a factor of 165mm to increase legroom for the rear passengers which is a neat touch. Suzuki has designed the car to be extremely versatile and images in the brochure seem to confirm this fact as the Ignis is set to come with multiple handy storage spaces for bottles, cellphones, etc.

Suzuki is offering the Ignis in 8 colours including 3 new shades. Customers will also have the option of heavily accessorizing and customizing their cars, as can be understood by the appearance of the Trail Concept in the brochure itself. The interiors seem to have 2 options- either an all-black theme or a dual-tone black and white them. However you can choose to customise the car by including an optional interior accents package which is available either in orange or silver.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis Trail Concept Colour Scheme

Images of the production-ready Ignis have been available for some time now and show the car to have LED-outlined projector headlamp units on either side of a single slated grille, with chrome accented fog lamps set inside the front bumper. The ORVMs get turn indicators which probably means that they will be electronically operated. Besides the exteriors, the leaked brochure gives us additional data regarding the technology available inside the cabin. The car will come with climate control, an intelligent infotainment system equipped with USB and BlueTooth connectivity, and steering wheel-mounted controls for audio and telephony. The brochure also shows the Ignis to be available in 3 trim levels- Hybrid MZ, Hybrid MX and Hybrid MG with Hybrid MG being the top-spec variant.

Upon its launch in India, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will likely rival the newly launched Mahindra KUV100 and other hatchback crossovers like the Toyota Etios Cross and upcoming Datsun GO-Cross. The car is likely to cost somewhere in the territory of Rs 3 lakh - Rs 5 lakh and is expected to launch sometime during the 2016 festive season.
