2017 SsangYong Rexton, the upcoming iteration of the South Korean automaker's SUV, is scheduled to make its debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in October. Codenamed Y400, the upcoming iteration of the Rexton SUV features a more striking design in comparison to its concept form - the LIV-1. It will be underpinned by an all-new ladder frame chassis which will be shared with the replacement for the SsangYong Korando Sports pick-up truck.

According to AutoExpress, the new generation Rexton's design is "inspired by the polar bear and traditional "Korean aesthetics"". Much like the new SsangYong Tivoli, the Rexton will also get an exciting makeover, complete with scultped lines, flared wheel arches, single slate grille, a sporty bumper with skid plates and large air dams, etc..
Inside, the new SsangYong Rexton features a pleasant design replete with a bunch of buttons, lot of chrome, and a good-looking central touchscreen. To be also offered as a 7-seater, SsangYong has made good use of the Rexton's wheelbase and promises both, decent legroom and boot space.

The new SsangYong Rexton will come powered by the new 2.0-litre GDi turbocharged petrol engine mated to the current model's 7-speed automatic gearbox. The carmaker is also likely to introduce an 8-speed automatic sourced from Mercedes-Benz albeit a little later.
