According to reports, Hyundai India has discontinued the Santa Fe SUV in the country. Although, the company denies this, the Santa Fe has been removed from Hyundai's official website, hinting otherwise. Hyundai's 7-seater SUV, was also not included in the company's price revision chart post the increase in GST cess hike. The 3rd generation Santa Fe, showcased at the Auto Expo 2014, was retailing at a price of Rs. 27.86 lakh for the 2WD AT variant and Rs. 31.07 lakh for the top end 4WD AT variant.

Since September last year, Hyundai has managed to sell merely 174 units of the Santa Fe in India, with no sales registered for last month. Media reports suggest that the company is looking at manufacturing the Santa Fe on the basis of orders received. The Santa Fe, which takes on the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, was the costliest of the lot. Built on Hyundai's voguish 'Fluidic' design language, Santa Fe is a contemporary looking SUV that also lends styling cues to Creta SUV.
The bold and aggressive styling coupled to sharp lines and other key elements ensure Santa Fe looked absolutely stunning. Hyundai used a lot of chrome on the outside. The front grille featured multiple chrome slats, outside door handles were finished in chrome and a hint of chrome could be seen around window frame. On the inside, the cabin of Santa Fe is comfortable not just in terms of space, but also looks up-market, thanks to the use of premium material. The three row layout offers space for seven, there is generous space in front and middle rows, albeit the third row does not offer as much room as the other two.

On the safety front, the Santa Fe got a host of safety features such as dual front airbags, front side airbags, curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management control, brake assist, rollover sensor, rear view camera with touch audio display, rear parking sensors, height adjustable front seat belts, engine immobilizer shift lock system, child seat anchor and speed sensing auto door lock.
The SUV comes with a 2.2 litre, CRDi, diesel engine that puts out out 196Bhp at 3800rpm and 436 Nm between 1800 to 2500rpm. The engine is available with a 6-Speed Manual and Automatic gearbox directing power to 2WD system. There is also an option for a 4WD system that comes only on the automatic version. The Santa Fe also claimed to deliver ARAI rated fuel economy of 11km/l.
If the report turns out to be true, then the Tucson heads the SUV range in India followed by Creta.
