Prevail Electric, a Gurugram-based new electric vehicle start-up is working on a new electric motorcycle which will come with a range of 350 km. Speaking with carandbike in an exclusive interaction, Prevail Electric Mobility CEO Hemant Bhatt said that the company will create new benchmarks in the electric two-wheeler segment, and will directly compete with the likes of Ather Energy and Simple Energy. After launching three new electric scooters, the company is working on a high-speed electric motorcycle which will be introduced in two variants.

"The electric bike will be in the sports segment and will have maximum range of 350 km, and will also get features like swappable batteries. The electric motorcycle will be launched in two variants, one with 120 kmph top speed, and the top-spec and more powerful variant with 180 kmph top speed," Hemant Bhatt disclosed to carandbike.
The Prevail Elite is currently the top-spec electric scooter from the company, priced at Rs. 1,29,999 and with a top speed of 80 kmph, and range of 110 km on a single charge.
The new electric motorcycle will be available with either a 72V 32 A battery with 120 kmph top speed, or a 72V 40A battery with 180 kmph top speed. This new electric sports bike will use lithium iron phosphate batteries, rather than lithium ion batteries. The lithium iron phosphate batteries are said to hold charges for longer, and also charge up faster than conventional lithium ion batteries. The cells for the batteries will be imported from Taiwan, but 90 per cent of Prevail Electric's products will be made in India, Bhatt added.
The Prevail Finesse is priced at Rs. 99,999. The company is currently setting up its retail network across the country, and deliveries are expected to begin from mid-September.
According to Bhatt, Prevail Electric will launch an additional manufacturing plant in Behrampur, near Gurugram, in Haryana, in addition to the existing plant at Neemrana in Rajasthan. Prevail Electric currently has production capacity of 36,000 units per annum, which will be ramped up to nearly 80,000 units per annum when the second plant becomes operational. The company is gearing up to establish its retail network across Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kochi, Rajasthan, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Prevail Electric Mobility is an arm of French lubricants major FRVelion. Once the retail network is up, the company intends to ramp up sales operations across India, initially with 30 flagship stores. Deliveries of its first three products are expected to begin from mid-September, 2021.
