Toyota Kirloksar Motor Vice-Chairman said consumers should be given freedom to make a logical choice, and manufacturers enough leeway so that they can produce what the consumer wants.

India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki said today that government incentives will be needed to make electric vehicles (EVs) affordable as the country moves towards the eco-friendly solution for mobility. The company, which plans to launch its first EV in India by 2020, also said it will conduct a study to find consumer insights to prepare for the journey.
According to the MoU signed by Toyota and Suzuki, both the firms will work together to develop the R&D for electric vehicles, which Maruti will sell and service in India.
