Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has partnered with IIT Madras Incubation Cell (IITMIC) to develop and promote mobility solutions for the future. The two entities signed a MoU under which they will collaborate to identify and mentor start-ups in the mobility space in India.
Commenting on the announcement, Satyakam Arya, Managing Director & CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said, “India is going through rapid industrial and economic changes and technology will be at the core of businesses and lifestyle going forward. Daimler India CVs and IIT Madras will jointly identify and incubate Indian tech start-ups working in areas of future mobility
DICV and IITMIC will jointly incubate Indian tech start-ups working in areas of future mobility such as electric and hydrogen technology, safety technologies such as ADAS functions, connected vehicle technologies, autonomous tech and more. The two parties say that they will also prepare the start-ups for paradigm shifts in supply chain and logistics, manufacturing, product development and other key areas.
Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, President – IIT Madras Research Park, IITM Incubation Cell said, “As the fossil-fuel based vehicles get replaced by battery-powered or Hydrogen powered Electric Vehicles in near future, innovation and pursuit of deep-tech start-ups in the area will be a major task. This Daimler India Commercial Vehicles-IITMIC joint incubator would strive to become a leading incubator, where young talent flourishes; further it will become a think tank for fossil-fuel free world tomorrow. IITMIC and DICV will leverage our respective strengths to jointly provide mentorship and nurture start-ups by exchanging and participating in seminars, forums, events and symposiums that will help drive solutions for future mobility.”
