Automobili Pinifarina has finally christened its all-electric Hypercar that ran with the PF0 codename until now. The new car will be called the Battista and will pay homage to the founder of the Pininfarina design house, Battista Farina. The new car will wear the Pininfarina logo and will be the second series production car ever to wear the Pininfarina badge. The Battista will get underpinnings from the all-electric tech and hypercar maker Rimac and will make close to 1900 bhp of peak power. 0-100 kmph will be taken care of in under 2 seconds but all that is secondary since what this hypercar is really all about is purity of design! Incidentally, the Pininfarina Battista will also be the fastest and most powerful car ever made in Italy till date. Automobili Pininfarina and the Pininfarina design house are both owned by the Mahindra Group.

Speaking on the christening of the new supercar, Paolo Pininfarina, grandson of Batista Farina and Chairman, Pininfarina SpA, said, "This is genuinely a dream come true. My grandfather always had the vision that one day there would be a stand-alone range of Pininfarina- branded cars. This hypercar will boast world-beating performance, technological innovation and of course elegant styling. For me, we simply had to call it Battista. His dream becomes reality today as we link our glorious past with the future of motoring."

In terms of facts and figures, here are a few numbers to boggle your brain. 1900 bhp, 2300 Nm of torque, 0-100 kmph in 1.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 mph or about 402 kmph! And all this with a range of well over 450 kms on a single charge. The Pininfarina Battista will also have a quick charge capability of getting 80 per cent of its total battery charge with just 30 - 40 mins of charge time.

That said, as we mentioned earlier, the point of the Pininfarina Battista will not just be about crazy power figures and top speed runs, it is also about the design. While there are several teasers that have already been showcased, I personally have seen a render of how the car will look like when in its final avatar and all I can say is that it is one of the prettiest cars I have ever laid my eyes on! The exterior is unlike the aggressive and aero driven cars that we are so used to today and instead is more inspired by older, purer designs of the 60s and 70s. And the interior is stunning too! The new Pininfarina Battista will be unveiled to the public at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
