Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker by volume, has reported achieving cumulative sales of 164,056 units in February 2022. Compared to the 164,469 vehicles sold during the same month in 2021, the company's year-on-year sales remained flat last month. However, compared to 154,379 units sold in January 2022, the Indo-Japanese carmaker witnessed a month-on-month growth of 6.2 per cent in February 2022. The carmaker said that the shortage of electronic components continued to have a minor impact on the production of vehicles that are primarily sold in the domestic market.

Total passenger vehicle sales for February 2022 stood at 133,948 units, a drop of 7.4 per cent against 144,761 vehicles sold during the same month in 2021
As for the domestic market, last month Maruti Suzuki's total sales in India, PV + LCV + sales to other manufacturers (Toyota), stood at 137,607 units, a decline of nearly 7 per cent compared to 147,483 vehicles sold in February 2021. Out of this, total passenger vehicle sales for February 2022 stood at 133,948 units, a drop of 7.4 per cent against 144,761 vehicles sold during the same month last year. At the same time, the company's exports continued to be on an upward trajectory witnessing over 2-fold growth. Last month, Maruti Suzuki's sales from exports stood at 24,021 units, a YoY growth of 109 per cent compared to 11,486 vehicles exported in February 2021.

The utility vehicle segment, which includes the Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL6 and S-Cross, saw a 5.6 per cent YoY decline last month
Maruti's mini and subcompact segment, which includes cars like Alto, S-Presso, Wagon R, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, and Dzire, collectively accounted for 97,486 units, a decline of nearly 6.7 per cent compared to 104,476 units sold in February 2021. At the same time, sales from Maruti's compact sedan Ciaz saw a healthy 26.6 per cent growth at 1,912 units, against 1,510 units sold in February 2021. The utility vehicle segment, which includes the Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL6 and S-Cross, also saw a 5.6 per cent YoY decline last month. The cumulative sales stood at 25,360 units, as against 28,884 units sold during the same month last year.
In February 2022, Maruti Suzuki also sold 9,190 units of the Eeco van, a decline of nearly 23 per cent compared to the 11,891 vans sold during the same month in 2021. Last month, sales to other OEMs, that is Toyota, stood at 2,428 units, a massive 56 per cent decline compared to the 5,500 units sold in February 2021. Sales from Maruti Suzuki's Super Carry light commercial vehicle reached 3,659 units, a growth of over 25 per cent compared to 2,722 units sold in February 2021.
