BMW has officially taken the wraps off the all-new second-generation 2 Series Coupe. The new model will be built at the BMW Group's San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico. The car is slated to go on sale in the international markets by early next year. Initially, the car will be offered in three variants - 220i Coupe, 220d Coupe, and top-of-the-line M240i xDrive Coupe. Do note, the new 230i Coupe will be added to the range in summer 2022. The new BMW 2 Series Coupe comes with new styling elements, more powerful engines, sophisticated chassis technology and more.

The 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe now comes with a newly designed kidney grille with vertically aligned air flaps
Aesthetically, the new-generation BMW 2 Series Coupe now gets a newly designed kidney grille with vertically aligned air flaps instead of the conventional grille bars. It also gets adaptive LED headlights with LED DRLs, redesigned front bumper, 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, revised LED taillights, and more. The range-topping BMW M240i xDrive Coupe rides on 19-inch M light-alloy wheels as standard. Compared to the predecessor, the overall length of the car has been increased by 105 mm, width by 64 mm and wheelbase by 51 mm. However, the height has been lowered by 28 mm.

On the inside, the all-new BMW 2 Series Coupe sports a premium cabin with a driver-focused cockpit design. The new interior trim strips in Dark Graphite matt as standard. The M240i xDrive Coupe and M Sport specification come with Alcantara/Sensatec upholstery. It gets an 8.8-inch control display and 5.1-inch instrument cluster with a coloured display as standard. The company also offers optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional with a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The car also features a Head-Up Display, BMW Drive Recorder, three-zone automatic climate control, windscreen with acoustic glazing, electrically adjustable seats including a memory function on the driver's side, ambient lighting, a Harman Kardon surround sound system, more.
The carmaker has significantly expanded the selection of standard and optional driver assistance systems compared to the predecessor. It now gets front-collision warning, Speed Limit Info, Lane Departure Warning and Cruise Control with brake function fitted as standard. Optional features include Driving Assistant with Lane Change Warning, Rear Collision Prevention and rear crossing traffic warning, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function including manual Speed Limit Assist, Park Distance Control, Reversing Assistant, Reversing Assist Camera, Surround View and Remote 3D View.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the all-new BMW 2 Series Coupe now gets powerful engines with the brand's latest BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. The 220i comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 181.4 bhp and 300 Nm. The German carmaker claims that it can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 7.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 236 kmph. The new 220d variant gets a 2.0-litre diesel unit which is paired with a 48-V mild-hybrid system. It is tuned to produce 187.4 bhp and 400 Nm. The car can reach three-figure marks in just 6.9 seconds. It has a top speed of 237 kmph. The M240i comes powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 369 bhp and 500 Nm. It gets BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The M240i can do 0-100 kmph in merely 4.3 seconds before clocking a top speed of 250 kmph. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission as standard.
