The 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe is slated for debut on July 8, 2021, and ahead of its global debut, an image of the new two-door offering has dropped on the internet. The leaked image leaves little to imagination when it comes to the design of the new-generation BMW 2 Series Coupe. The image leaked is likely of the top-spec M240i variant that gets the fantastic purple shade. The new-gen BMW 2 Series Coupe will be unveiled on the first day of the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

The leaked image confirms the flamboyant lines on the 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe without the model going the 4 Series route as far as the grille is concerned. The coupe gets a slightly larger kidney grille over the outgoing model while sporting newly designed LED headlamps with the one angel eye LED signature DRL. Also notable are the triangular air intakes on the bumper and a larger central grille.
The profile looks compact with the car sporting a strong shoulder line, flush door handles and the familiar BMW Hofmeister kink on the rear window. The rear remains hidden for now but expect to see a slightly more flamboyant boot-lid and new 3D LED taillights and a diffuser completing the look.
Power on the 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe will come from the 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine on the M240i xDrive. The motor is expected to develop around 369 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. Power will be sent to all four wheels via the 8-speed automatic transmission. It will get a rear-biased xDrive system, while there will be rear-wheel drive only variants as well. Other engine options on the new-generation 2 Series Coupe will include the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel mills from the automaker's stable, depending on the market. The car will continue to sport a 50:50 weight distribution.

BMW has also confirmed a 12 per cent increased in torsional rigidity, while the M240i will get a limited-slip rear differential and adaptive dampers. The wheelbase is also likely to grow by 51 mm over the outgoing version, with the front and rear tracks growing by 52 mm and 31 mm respectively. Inside, expect to see a 12.3-inch digital instrument console and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with iDrive 7, gesture control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and more.
The new-generation BMW 2 Series Coupe will start arriving in markets globally later this year. We expect the M2 version to arrive at a later stage and that's likely the one that India will get in the fully kitted up avatar.
